Many routine spinal operations patients receive today can be done via minimally invasive methods. Here at EvergreenHealth, we actively advocate for minimally invasive techniques whenever possible.

In our experience, as well as other minimally invasive centers around the world, patients show less pain, lower infection rates, get home faster, and begin their recovery sooner.

Other benefits of minimally invasive procedures include smaller incisions and less blood loss during your surgery.

EvergreenHealth is equipped with the tools, specialized instruments, and highly-skilled, spine-fellowship trained orthopedic and neurosurgeons that routinely provide minimally invasive surgery to provide the best and most up to date services for you.

What minimally invasive surgeries do we perform? >

What is minimally invasive surgery?

During minimally invasive surgery, surgeons use smaller incision sites over traditional or “open” surgery. This reduces damage to surrounding tissue, improves recovery time and decreases scarring.

In general, minimally invasive surgery is safer than open surgery.

How is it performed?

During minimally invasive surgery, your surgeon will make tiny incisions near the source of your pain.

Small, specialized tools will be inserted through the incisions.

Using their expertise along with the help of a high-definition monitor, your surgeon will use these specialized tools to perform your procedure.

What Is the recovery time and prognosis?

Many patients return home the same day as their procedure.

If a hospital stay is required, most patients are only in the hospital for a couple of days.

After your surgery, your surgeon will schedule a follow-up appointment to find out how you are feeling, check your incision sites and determine the next steps in your treatment.

Recovery time varies by patient. Some patients return to full activity in six weeks while other patients may require more time.

It is not uncommon for some patients with sedentary jobs, such as office work, to return to work part-time in one to two weeks.

Your surgeon will let you know what you can expect after your surgery based on your individual diagnosis and treatment.
